My WHY | The Story Behind Salt and Script

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:13-16

I've always been creative. It's a gift that God gave me early on. And I was about 7 or 8 when I started my first business- Tay's Cakes, where I specialized in decorating cakes. (I really wish I had pictures from these days!)

So when I painted my first bible back in 2017, it stirred up in my heart a deep desire to do this for other women. My first bible was for my wedding reception, but soon after I started painting bibles for myself and eventually I started gifting them to other people and Foster Lane was born. My mom and I owned this together, I painted bibles and she painted signs but we did it under the same name.

Eventually, I got married and pregnant and Foster Lane just became too much for the both of us. We let her go and for a while I wasn't doing anything.

Toward the end of 2018, I felt a stirring in my heart again. I wanted to paint bibles but I had a new name. I truly believe God gave me this name- Salt and Script. My love of the Bible and my love of being creative, all wrapped into one name. I couldn't have thought of this on my own.

In November 2018, we re-launched as Salt and Script and the rest is history.

God is to be given all the credit for every part of my story. He had been incredibly faithful and continues to be faithful.
